Artist Recommendation: Natccu

NatccuNatccu is a female, Tokyo-based singer-songwriter who creates pop sounding rock music. Her music shows obvious influence from US and UK music, but there’s a Japanese flavor to it which results in a very accessible and catchy style. Her vocals are incredibly powerful, and the raw emotion that shimmers through at all times may send shivers down your spine.

Her first album came out in 2004, and she is currently working on her second one with well-known producer Akira Murata, who has also produced and arranged Hitomi Yaida’s work. If you happen to live in the UK, you will have the chance for an exclusive preview of her new work, seeing as she will soon head to Europe for a small UK tour.

This October, Natccu will perform five dates in the UK as well as hold a special in-store event. Her tour schedule can be found here, and we definitely recommend checking out her concerts!

About the Author

Kay is the English version manager, aka editor in chief/executive editor and one of JaME’s vice-presidents. Between her job, second BA studies and random language courses, she’s able to find time to shout at her darling team members and write an article or two once in a while. If that isn’t enough, she runs a JRock company in her home country and occasionally organizes concerts of well-known Japanese rock acts.    Although she got into Japanese music through visual kei, she has now moved onto different sorts of music such as pop, alternative/indie rock and will talk your ears off about anything related to reggae in Japan.
