Celestia le Ciel in Rome

Last year, the fantasy-inspired band Celestia le Ciel performed in Rome. They recorded a comment for us (our apologies for the bad sound quality!), and instead of the JaME team members writing a report about their live, the two band members wrote one themselves, presenting us with their view on the concert.

Live Report

We held a concert at Traffic in Rome, Italy on December 16, 2007. It was a very good concert and the people in Rome welcomed us warmly. Also, the sound engineer of the livehouse Traffic was very wonderful and he had abundant knowledge and wonderful technologies. So, the sound check ended very smoothly thanks to him.

Our concert starts with a scene based on Japanese traditional acting. It might look like kabuki, though it is different. The scene we danced expressed the appearance of the fox god. The fox god always protects us from all kinds of disasters.

However, the audience did not react to the first act at all, so I was very puzzled and I felt as if the concert had failed…however, they suddenly let us hear a big shout of joy.

They might have never seen such a Japanese styled act before, so they might not have understood what we were doing. However, they began to enjoy our fantasy world little by little.

The main concept of our concert is to make sure the audience enjoys it. We always want to have a good time with the audience. We do a special thing during the concert to achieve that goal, but I can’t tell much about it. Please come to our concert if you want to know about it!

I studied greetings in Italian this time. However, the audience seemed to not understand me. It was only ‘buona sera’ and ‘piacere’ that they understood. Unfortunately, they didn’t understand though I tried various greetings. Maybe my pronunciation was bad. However, the audience was very good at Japanese. A lot of the attendees were studying Japanese at university, and they were very good at Japanese. ^_^

To our regret, there was no time for an encore. However, because the audience in Rome was very good-natured, we were able to have a wonderful time. We will return to Rome again some day and we are looking forward to seeing you again.
