Kana in Europe

After her second performance in Finland, JaME sat down with Kana to have a small chat about her European tour, her newest album and more.

This is already your second time touring Europe. How do you feel about that, and do you have any special expectations for this tour?
Kana: I’m sure I’ll see a lot of the same fans as last year. I’m really looking forward to it.

Where does the tour name Bunny Tour come from?
Kana: It reflects the theme of the new album, Tsuki no Usagi (Moon’s bunny).

Now that you’re looking back on it, how do you feel about your first European tour? Do you feel like you learned something new?
Kana: It left me with nice feelings. I think it’s fun to return here again.

Your latest album, Tsuki no Usagi, was released in the summer. How did it feel releasing new music after a two-year break? Does the album have any specific concept or story?
Kana: Releasing it was like a new beginning for me.

Your look changes with every release. Do the colors you used this time, white and mint green, reflect something specific?
Kana: The colors of Tsuki no Usagi express the beginning of something new, and also spring. It’s warm feeling.

Tsuki no Usagi is the first album in which you don’t only sing in Japanese, but also in English and in French. Would you tell us more about the songs sung in a foreign language: Moon Wings, Lapin and Chocolat.
Kana: Since I’ve been in Europe before, I wanted to include some of that atmosphere on the album. Additionally, with the English and French songs it’s easier to feel a connection to my European fans.

Do you study these languages?
Kana: Yes, I do study English.

According to your MySpace site you’re writing new music again. What can we expect this time?
Kana: I’m going to sing my newest songs on this tour.

Your profile also mentioned your participiation in the design of a virtual game called R.O.S.E. Online Evolution. Can you tell us more about this?
Kana: My job is to design, for example, clothing and cars for the game.

Thank you!
Kana: Thanks!

About the Author

Kay is the English version manager, aka editor in chief/executive editor and one of JaME’s vice-presidents. Between her job, second BA studies and random language courses, she’s able to find time to shout at her darling team members and write an article or two once in a while. If that isn’t enough, she runs a JRock company in her home country and occasionally organizes concerts of well-known Japanese rock acts.    Although she got into Japanese music through visual kei, she has now moved onto different sorts of music such as pop, alternative/indie rock and will talk your ears off about anything related to reggae in Japan.
