Plastic Tree Europe Tour 2007

After Plastic Tree‘s recent tour in Europe, we asked vocalist Ryutaro and bassist Tadashi about the countries they have performed in. This time, they performed in Sweden, Germany, France and the Netherlands, so we asked them a few questions about these four countries.

Tadashi Hasegawa:

Sweden:
Sweden is both beautiful with its northern European scenery and modern culture.

Best Memory:
Doing our first live there, I think, is my best memory.

Something Notable:
I had a little trouble because the buttons to operate the elevators were different from in Japan (laugh).

Germany:
I think that Germans share a commonality with the Japanese, in that people understand music deeply.

Best Memory:
Cologne, which we visited in summer was just awesome.

Something Notable:
When I went to an instrumental shop in Cologne, there were many instrument brands that are hardly seen in Japan, and I enjoyed it.

Ryutarou Arimura:

France:
Paris is my favorite place since I’ve been there before. I like it so much so that I look for and watch movies that are filmed or have scenes in Paris (laugh). It’s a very beautiful town.

Best Memory:
Last time when I went there I couldn’t stay more than half a day, but I went alone to the hill of Montmartre without sleep. I’ll never forget the scenery which I saw there because it was so beautiful.

Something Notable:
French bread was hard (laugh). I think I hurt my jaw, but it was so delicious. I sometimes crave it when I am in Japan (laugh).

The Netherlands:
I went there for the first time, and I was really impressed with the scenery. It was like what I had seen in picture books when I was a child. I like towns where there is a river, so I thought, “I fit this town”. (laugh)

Best Memory:
It was the live. And the windmills which we went to see on the day when we left. I remember seeing a cat there too, it was cute (laugh).

Something Notable:
I was addicted to food from a fast food restaurant called Wok to Walk, and I ate it everyday. And waffles too (laugh).

About the Author

Kay is the English version manager, aka editor in chief/executive editor and one of JaME’s vice-presidents. Between her job, second BA studies and random language courses, she’s able to find time to shout at her darling team members and write an article or two once in a while. If that isn’t enough, she runs a JRock company in her home country and occasionally organizes concerts of well-known Japanese rock acts.    Although she got into Japanese music through visual kei, she has now moved onto different sorts of music such as pop, alternative/indie rock and will talk your ears off about anything related to reggae in Japan.
