A short chat with lynch.’s drummer, Asanao.

We were able to have a quick chat with guitarist Yusuke and drummer Asanao from lynch.. The young visual kei band is currently enjoying a lot of popularity, so we took this opportunity to ask them a few questions about their newest album, THE BURIED, which was recently released.


Your new album, THE BURIED, includes re-recorded songs from your previously released albums and singles. What is different about these new recordings?
Asanao: First of all, my drum set has totally changed, this time I used two snares. Conceptually, the songs on this album were recorded as we would play the songs at our concerts, so I played using a high pitch like I usually do at our concerts, and I kept hitting the drums right up to the end.

You designed the album jackets for THE AVOIDED SUN and THE BURIED and they turned out very artistic and wonderful. Did you use your music as a base for the design and was it difficult doing this?
Asanao: I worked hard to design them correctly and to make them as I imagined them in my head. It was a bit difficult when it came to the colors, because colors on a monitor are a little bit different from the real ones that come out, which are sometimes deeper or lighter. With THE AVOIDED SUN, I had a really strong image because the music is very vivid, so I imagined a vivid jacket that stood out in color. For THE BURIED, I imagined a hole. We imagine a hole to be dark, so I also used bright colors to make the hole darker, I’m actually quite satisfied with the result.

What is your own favorite song from lynch., and why is that your favorite?
Asanao: Prominence is my favorite song. It’s hard to play at concerts because it’s very slow, but because it’s so different from our other songs, it’s quite fun to play.
